On the occasion of the demonstrations being given in Christ Church Upper Library on the replica of William Blake’s wooden star-wheel rolling press, a LIMITED EDITION of selected plates from the Songs of Innocence and of Experience (1789-94) is now available.

Each set contains the 16 plates listed below printed on English hand-made wove paper of c.1927, presented in a labeled drop-back box. Included is a bound pamphlet describing how the replica relief-etched copper plates were made and printed, together with a photograph of the press in Christ Church Upper Library by David Stumpp. The colophon notes the number of the set in the edition and that the letterpress of the pamphlet has been set in Bell types and hand-printed by Paul W. Nash at the Strawberry Press, Moreton-in-Marsh.

Additional plates from the Songs may be selected from the list below to increase the total up to 41 plates per set. The entire suite of impressions will then be printed to order in a mix of the dark blue and blue-green ink that Blake used to print his illuminated books in the 1790s.

The edition is limited to 20 sets. The remaining sets are available P.O.R. Orders may be placed and further information obtained by contacting Michael Phillips here.
